In 1963, Paris saw the invention of livelooping music when Terry Riley used a setup consisting of two tape recorders to create a radically new kind of repetitive music with very long delays - he called it "Time Lag Accumulator". About 10 years later, Brian Eno and Robert Fripp made music with the same kind of setup, calling it "Frippertronics".
In May 2014, half a century after its invention, I recreated this kind of livelooping setup and played several electric guitar improvisations with it at home (tracks 1-2), during the Loop Jubilee livelooping festival in Paris (tracks 3-5) and in 2016 during a loop night in Berlin (track 6).
I was surprised how much the audience was mesmerized by the look of a pair of rotating tape reels. The vintage machines produce a background of hiss and hum that is surprisingly charming in itself, and the music is raw, sometimes lyrical, sometimes violent.

Only analogue gear was used:
2 x Revox A77 tape recorders
Fernandes Sustainer guitar
Roland GR-300 guitar synth with G-202 guitar controller
Boss GT-5 Effects processor
