The Final Loop

from Accumulating Time Lags by Michael Peters

/

about

This loop ended the 2014 Loop Jubilee festival in Paris. I played a G-202 guitar controller and a GR-300 guitar synthesizer into a pair of Revox A-77 tape recorders, very similar to Terry Riley's Time Lag Accumulator, the first livelooping machine which saw its first performance in Paris in 1963.

Thank you to my charming assistants Fabio Anile and Leander Reininghaus who came on stage at one point and changed the loop length in mid-flight by moving the table that held one of the two tape machines.

Thank you to Emmanuel Reveneau and the Les Voutes crew for staging this wonderful festival, and to Valerie Paille and her ARTE Tracks camera team who filmed the set and interviewed me.
